When you hear about cannabis, marijuana or weed, one of the first things that would come to mind is smoking, the old-fashioned way of consuming the plant. But despite the growing recognition of the various benefits consumers can get from the cannabis plant, the social stigma surrounding smoking turns off many potential customers.
With the legalization of marijuana for recreational use in Canada, cannabis entrepreneurs are working hard to innovate their products to capture a big share of the industry. Although “smokable” marijuana will be a huge market in the country—as much as $5 billion—smoking has been phased out, so other forms of cannabis products are poised to become an even larger market. According to consulting firm Deloitte, cannabis products such as edibles and vapes would be worth between $12 billion and $22 billion when the market is fully up and running, via CBC News.
With that, cannabis businesses are developing products that would be more attractive to non-smokers. There are cannabis-infused beverages such as soda, beer and cocktails sold in the United States, and Canada-based companies are keen to make their own.
Ontario-based Canopy Growth, for instance, is creating cannabis-infused cocktails. One of its selling points is the lack of calories in the cannabis drinks, which means reduced chances of weight gain. Other entrepreneurs, like Dustin and Corey Koffler of Toronto, have developed a solution for those who want to vape because vaping is not socially welcome in Canada, just like smoking cigarettes. The Koffler brothers designed a line of discreet cannabis vape devices that can fit in the palm of the user’s hand and does not emit odor or a lot of smoke.
In the U.S., there are various products available in the market that enable non-smokers to enjoy the health benefits of cannabis. PotNetwork Holdings, Inc. (OTCMKTS:POTN), through its subsidiary Diamond CBD, Inc., offers edibles, crystal dabs, oils, tinctures and creams.
POTN already has CBD drinks called Chill CBD Shot, which is perfect for those who don’t like the taste of CBD oil and the calories in the CBD edibles. It also has treats for those with a sweet tooth—CBD Honey Sticks, Choco Budz, CBD-infused chocolate peanut butter and CBD-infused choco nuts.
What’s more, the company’s products contain 100 percent natural cannabidiol (CBD) extracted from organic industrial hemp plants through an advanced process. Likewise, the other ingredients POTN’s Diamond CBD uses are natural and of premium quality.
Aside from edibles, cannabis has also been used as an ingredient for topical products. Nurse Mary J offers a hemp lotion specifically designed as an aftercare product for tattoos. Meanwhile, Saavy Naturals has body cream, body scrub, handcrafted soap, shampoo and conditioner that contain hemp oil.
Cannabis has relaxing effects, anti-inflammatory and healing properties, along with vitamins that are good for the skin. With various products already available in the market and more being developed, consumers have many choices to enjoy the health benefits without having to smoke weed. Just remember to choose the cannabis-derived products from reliable and trusted manufacturers to ensure effectivity and safety.
